go shopping for sibling gifts at the dollar store.
on friday, i took each of the girls separately to buy gifts for each other at the dollar store. we haven't done this in the past, but they asked about getting each other gifts this year, so i figured this was an easy way to do it. it was funny to watch each of them go through the process. i tried to really let them dictate the whole process and decide what to get. madeleine wandered each aisle and finally came back to the first aisle we went down and found a little set of disney princess markers with two coloring sheets that came with it and started talking about how she hoped that diane would share it with her. i explained that if she picked it for diane, diane didn't have to share it with her and she needed to pick it because she wanted diane to have it.
diane walked right in, saw some fairy wings and picked green ones because that's madeleine's favorite color. i think she just was that decisive about it and i'm hoping that it wasn't because madeleine came home and suggested that diane get them for her (she kept talking about the fairy wings on the way home). i guess that wouldn't be the end of the world anyway.
they both enjoyed getting their sister a gift and loved coming home and wrapping the present up as well. so far, neither has told the other what they got.
