mccall: day five

friday was another day spent at the beach. the extended family had headed home, so it was just randy's immediate family at the beach. we were sad to say goodbye to the beach at the end of a great week.

kyle, kim, and randy took the four oldest kids out on the boat one last time before they pulled it out of the water. madeleine had a blast tubing.

mccall: day four

on thursday, we went kayaking in the morning. randy didn't join us because he is still nursing a cracked rib. plus, he may still be nursing memories of last year and diane's screaming the whole time while i held her and he paddled our whole family along by himself.

unfortunately, that scene may have played out again (although at least diane waited until the second half of the ride), except that instead of my husband paddling us along, my sister and brother-in-law did all the hard work.

jeanie, diane, and bob
diane started out with my in-laws (see her in the middle there?) and was doing fine because she had a little bag of cheez-its keeping her happy.

jeanie, diane, and a slightly less fierce bob

tim, eliza, and carolee

still happy with her cheez-its.

and then, the cheez-its ran out, i got too close to diane's kayak in an attempt to hand off the camera, and diane only wanted me. so, we tried both my kids in the same kayak and that didn't end up working. kyle was a trooper and took three kids in his kayak without anyone else helping to paddle. and kim paddled diane and me around because diane freaked out whenever i tried to pick up my paddle.

better luck next year.
