with strawberries being really cheap and very large and delicious at costco right now, i decided to can some strawberry jam. i actually prefer freezer jam, both for taste and ease of making it, but randy won't touch the stuff, so i decided to actually can it, which he will eat.
i enlisted the help of my friend megan, and as two novice jam canners, we proceeded to make strawberry jam.
i had ordered a big waterbath canning pot and a canning accessories kit, but they were in transit still, so we improvised with what we had. it all worked out well but i have to say that after canning without the right equipment, i am very glad that i ordered the right equipment and won't be canning like that again.
the results
two days later, i saw some more strawberries on sale and decided that i also wanted strawberry freezer jam for myself and madeleine to eat. round two:
