april at last

randy is done with classes for the semester, so he took the girls for a few hours yesterday morning and i went and bought more things for the garden and our yard. i was a little overwhelmed by all of the flowers to choose from, but ended up with an assortment and planted them in our planters this morning. i may or may not have been wearing my bathrobe while i did it.

i can't wait for them to bloom and fill in some more. i probably overplanted and they'll be too crowded, but for now i love looking out the window and seeing some color on our back porch.

in just the past few days, i feel like our yard is coming to life and this tree is my favorite part of the whole thing. on tuesday, i could swear it was blossoming as i sat and watched it. madeleine calls it the popcorn tree. i don't know what it is, but i absolutely love it. it makes me happy every time my eye chances upon it.

diane enjoying a morning out on the veranda while i planted our flowers.

my starts and our pepper plants enjoying some time outside as well. everything but the pepper seeds have made a showing at this point, and i may have bought that large pepper set because i am impatient. plus, i didn't have orange or yellow peppers anyway and now i do. and they are huge.

everyone in the house is loving watching these seeds come to life. every day randy comes home and i say, "the _________ (insert fruit or vegetable here) are up! come look!" beth will say, "did you see the _______?" it's really fun.

i really love spring.

the question is, did you go out to buy the flowers in your bathrobe?

also, the tree looks like it could mabye be a weeping cherry willow. one of my fave trees.

I love spring too. I just miss the Dogwoods so much, and I won't be in Washington when they are still blooming. Maybe next year.
