i just finished reading "al capone does my shirts," by gennifer choldenko. my mom, reader extraordinaire, is always on top of good books and recommended it. it's juvenile lit, a newberry honors book, and a really easy and fun read. it's about a kid who's dad is an electrician/guard on alcatraz, so his family lives on alcatraz with him (which is historically accurate). the book tells about the son's adventures from the first person and is well written. i highly recommend it for adults and children alike.
