yesterday, randy, madeleine, and i had the chance to go to the draper temple open house. although lds temples are usually only accessible to worthy members of the church, when they are first constructed there is a brief time when the public can walk through an open house and view the temple.
the draper, utah temple was recently completed and we decided to take advantage of the opportunity to go to the open house with madeleine. because of the high volume of people going to the open house, they had us go to a meeting house nearby the temple and then they bused us over to the temple. at the meeting house, there was a short video on the importance of temples and the specific history of the draper temple itself.
once we arrived at the temple itself, it was a self-guided tour and we got to walk through and see all of the beautiful rooms in the temple. i love the beautiful artwork and craftsmanship that we have in our temples. the stone, wood, and all of the materials were gorgeous and make the temple and even more special place. but most of all, i love the quiet reverence that i feel when i am at the temple. i know that madeleine is really young, but i think that even she caught a small glimpse of that. my normally squirmy and constantly moving little girl was happy to just sit quietly in our arms as we walked through as a family. it was a great experience for all of us.

You look good in your new haircut. I really like it. Draper Open House sounded great. We're going on the 14th, and can't wait. Glad that Madelaine was so good during the tour.
