my first day off the job

i'm already learning things as a stay-at-home mom. lesson one: remember that you have a baby with you when you are feeling like being efficient.

i had a very productive day today. i mowed the lawn and weeded the garden before it got too hot, i did some laundry, and then after lunch, i had a list of errands to run and i set out with madeleine to do so. we got the oil changed in the car, i went to walmart and bought a new hose, i went to target to get a couple things but came out empty handed, and then went to costco to pick up a few more items. before we were even done with the oil change, madeleine started getting sleepy and every time i would get in the car, she would fall asleep and then i would have to wake her up at the next store to get her out. by the time we were done with costco, she was starting to get fussy and hungry, so i decided that even though i still wanted to go to the grocery store and the library, it would have to wait until later. i'll have to plan around naps and eating a little better in the future and be more considerate of madeleine.

Unfortunately, my level of expectation for efficiency has still not changed even though I have two children. Thus, I either wear out my children to exhaustion or am very disappointed about what I have gotten done for the day... Hmm, balance in life seems to elude me.
