this was after the kids had decorated the tree and wanted their picture in front of it:
of course, jonathan doesn't like to hold still for long.
i love it when madeleine reads to diane.
jonathan likes to cook things for me:
decorating sugar cookies:
i found this in diane's room one day. it shows her personality pretty well.
we went out to dinner at din tai fung, a chinese dumpling place, for madeleine's birthday. we took some (not very good) pictures to commemorate the event:
randy's parents came for christmas this year and it was so fun to have them here with us. on christmas eve, we got out our chimes set and played and sang christmas songs.
bob and jeanie did a fun rendition of the night before christmas for us:
and then randy read "when jesus was born in bethlehem," which is a book with the scriptural account of the birth of the savior, accompanied by artwork by joseph brickey. we love it and it's become our christmas eve tradition.
here it is, all set up on christmas eve after the kids were in bed.
the birthday girl on christmas morning:
we got the kids some legos for christmas and they spent most of the day putting them together by themselves:
and in the evening, we went into birthday mode:
we love this sweet girl of ours and can't believe that she is seven years old!
