observations made between the hours of 12:00 and 1:30am

  • there are few feelings worse than finally going in to check on a crying baby and wondering how long they have been sitting in their own vomit.
  • quinoa is a fun grain to cook with. it is less fun to work with the second time around.
  • my baby creates bile that smells strong enough to knock over a horse.
  • having an extra set of sheets is so nice when you are trying to clean up barf in the middle of the night. having a couple more would have been even nicer.
  • only having grape juice in the house is not a great idea when you are looking for a liquid that will not stain everything purple in the event that it re-enters the scene.
  • should have put zip up jammies on the first time that we had to get dirty pajamas over a very sad baby's head.
  • iron chef america may be good entertainment for parents that are staying up with a sick child but is less entertaining for the child.
  • i am very glad to have a husband that is so helpful in the clean-up process. he may have an uncanny ability to sleep through screaming children that can't sleep, but he is always right on the scene with sick children.
  • madeleine shares her father's uncanny ability.
  • diane is even more attached to her blanket than we thought.
  • having a kid get sick in the middle of the night is the pits.

Yep, it's the pits. I hate stomach flu. We've used towels when we run out of sheets.

Right now I can't think of anything worse. I'm so sorry. Hopefully it stays contained with her and no one gets sick while you go camping.

Oh, poor Diane. I'm so sorry she isn't feeling well. Sure hope Madeleine doesn't catch it and Diane gets feeling better quickly!
