may in pictures

these are pictures of me with the kids from mother's day. i need to be better about taking pictures of me with my children more than once a year.

all three kids sitting on the rooster at the yakima fruit market:

ferry ride to kingston from some craigslist item pick up, i can't remember what.

cool dude with a tool belt.

these next few are at the university mall while we were waiting for some ridiculous amount of time to get into din tai fung, a delicious dumpling house. the kids did remarkably well. i guess it helps that there were bronze cows.

the following pictures are from our nightmare of may - diane cutting off the tip of her middle right finger in our front door. long story short, she cut it off and it has grown back completely since then, including her fingernail. it was a pretty miserable experience for us as parents, especially because hand injuries (with potential permanent implications) are randy's worst nightmare. we are grateful that her body healed so well and that she was so resilient throughout the whole ordeal.

this is her in the ER with the splint that they put around it to protect it while it was healing. also, with her new bear they gave her, named "luffy," since she already had a stuffed rabbit named "fluffy." i think she may tell you that the whole thing was worth it for the bear alone, she loves it that much. i would not say the same thing and would rather have bought the bear for $6.

recovering in style:

this was trip number two to a different ER. our family doctor sent us back because he thought maybe they should put something in the fingernail bed to give her fingernail a better chance of growing back in. long story short again, we decided not to, but not until after a couple of hours in the ER. diane might also tell you that the whole thing was worth it for the amount of screen time that she got on our phones and the iPad (both are usually off limits to our kids) during various ER trips and doctors appointments. i would not say the same thing.

i love how well these two play together.

also in may, the pool opened! poor diane couldn't swim for a few weeks because of her hand, but was happy to sit on the side and play on the iPad while i swam with jonathan and madeleine.

that's a wrap for may.
