mccall - north beach

on thursday, we spent the morning at a beach on the north shore. the curse of cold weather followed us, so it was pretty chilly for most of the morning and we spent much of our time bundled up. the sun did eventually come out, but the wind counteracted its effects. fortunately, it was still fun to sit on the beach and look at the lake, even in the cold.

mccall - kayaking

our family all piled in one kayak

as part of our trip to mccall this year, we all rented kayaks and spent some time on the lake one morning. when we left our condo, it was raining lightly and we were a little skeptical about if it was really worth it. apparently the woman in charge of the kayak rentals was also skeptical because she didn't even show up because she thought we wouldn't. by the time we called her and she finished running the errands she had embarked on during her perceived free time, the rain stopped. unfortunately, it was still pretty cold, but fortunately, it was still beautiful.

unfortunately, because diane couldn't really sit in a little seat, i had to hold her the whole time and randy was stuck propelling all four of us along. i actually would really have liked to paddle. maybe next year.

diane fell asleep about half way through the ride, although we were concerned that she actually just passed out because her life jacket was cutting off her air supply. those infant life jackets really are not comfortable. she woke up soon after falling asleep and started screaming, reminded of just how uncomfortable her life jacket was. the serenity of the trip vanished as diane screamed, madeleine joined in with her own fake cry, and randy paddled as hard as he could to get us back. i want to do it again next year when the girls are a little older and hopefully, it is a little warmer.

aaron, paddling regally.
